About

Sports Medicine in Dog Agility

Veterinary sports medicine is essential for canine agility athletes because it supports peak performance, prevents injuries, and promotes long-term health. Agility places unique physical demands on dogs that we want to support through the preventative care, but should the need arise, identifying injuries early and addressing them through appropriate treatment. In doing so, we not only hope for our dogs to continue enjoying the sport they love but also having long, comfortable lives.

Some Quick Notes

Online, I am A veterinarian, but I am not YOUR veterinarian and this is not medical advice. If you have veterinary concerns, please have your pet seen in person by your general practice, sports med specialist, or emergency veterinarian as applicable.

Veterinary Medicine for Sporting Dogs

My interest within the sport is to provide robust general practice care for agility and sporting dogs. My vision is to be able to support our dogs through exceptional routine care they would receive at a GP clinic in combination with through, comprehensive orthopedic exams, pre-hab fitness & rehab care for injuries, nutrition, support reproductive care, and limited urgent care services. Please note: I am not a specialist. See below for more info on finding a DACVSMR.

Finding a Sports Medicine Specialist

Sometimes it takes a specialist! Injuries in agility & sporting dogs can sometimes be tricky to diagnose, especially in our high-drive, sometimes stoic dogs. Especially when looking for a return to performance, one of the best recommendations is to follow up with a Veterinary Canine Sports Medicine & Rehab Specialist. For assistance in findings a specialist by location, follow the link below!
